Welcome to the Entry Guide for the UK Packaging Awards 2013
It has been another year of outstanding innovation in the UK packaging industry and, after a hard-fought competition in 2012, I have no doubt that this year’s event will raise the bar again, be it for excellence in business performance or setting new levels of ingenuity and originality in packaging development and design.
Why enter? For a start, reaching the shortlist in the UK Packaging Awards sets you apart from the competition. It’s a mark that your work or your business is up there with the very best in the market. It’s something you can shout about, tell your clients and suppliers and use to help win business - which, for many of our shortlisted companies and suppliers, a place on the shortlist does.
Moreover, the UK Packaging Awards is your chance to put your best work in front of a group of the most powerful packaging buyers and specifiers in the business. I take great personal pride in putting together an impartial judging panel that draws on expertise from the biggest names in retail, brand owners, packaging research agencies and the top business experts in the industry. This year, judges from Reckitt Benckiser, Muller Dairies, Waitrose, B&Q, Marks & Spencer and more have already confirmed their participation in the judging process - and we will be announcing more in the weeks to come.
Finally, of course, the UK Packaging Awards offers the biggest night out in packaging to celebrate the industry’s many successes and to rub shoulders with colleagues, friends, rivals and suppliers across the sector. More than 700 people attended last year’s Awards ceremony, at the London Hilton - and we are confident that this year’s event, on 13 November, will be bigger and better than ever.
You will find all you need to know to enter the UK Packaging Awards in these pages and at our website, www.ukpackagingawards.co.uk. I can’t wait to see this year’s entries and I wish you all the very best of luck in the competition.
